Careers in Music production & Sound Engineering .

POTENTIAL CAREERS

A very large number of people would like a career in the music production & sound engineering industry but very few manage it. You have to be very dedicated and tough skinned and know someone in the business.

Recording studios are well aware of how many people would give anything to work in a studio. As such they can and do take their pick at will. If one person does not work out they can get another one at a moments notice.

Generally speaking they want young unnattached people who know someone already in the studio. They either pay nothing at all or very little at first. Normal employment laws are meaningless. 24 hour shifts or even longer are very common. After all it is 'rock n roll'! Making tea, picking up pizzas at 2AM etc... is the sort of thing most assistants do.

If you really want to work in a studio you can start by doing a practical sound engineering course. Click:

Forget about degrees or any other qualifications. They are generally a waste of time as far as working in a studio is concerned. Studios want to know what experience you have not what pieces of paper you have got. So get a work experience placement in a studio.
